Reflexology of any type can be safely adapted to benefit people with cancer, chronic illness or in need of palliative care. It may help to ease symptoms arising either from illness or medical treatment, as well as supporting your quality of life, ability to cope and most of all, providing a relaxing 'safe space' for a short while away from the pressures of illness. My comprehensive training has covered this specialist area and you can feel confident that I am able to work with you during your illness, whether this is providing RLD to help with lymphoedema or adjusting a regular session appropriately to suit you.
Many areas of conventional medicine now recognise the benefits of complementary therapies for people with cancer or palliative care needs, and are increasingly integrating them into care packages. The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is one such example - an internationally recognised cancer care centre in Manchester, where an award-winning complementary therapies service works alongside clinicians for the benefit of patients.
Complementary therapies also play a significant role in the care offered by many local hospices, and I am proud to act as a volunteer for St Giles Hospice in Whittington near Lichfield, providing reflexology for the benefit of patients or their family members.
A valuable support during what can be a very difficult time.
